WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, March 26, 2024 /EINPresswire.com/ -- At the USA Track & Field (USATF) Indoor Masters Track & Field Championships in Chicago, Ill., in a four-day meet Thursday-Sunday, March 21-24, Washington DC-based Potomac Valley Track Club (PVTC) won the overall combined national club championship and the first place team trophy among 123 teams.

PVTC finished with 500.5 combined points, ahead of Greater Philadelphia Track Club (482) and SoCal Track Club of Rancho Santa Margarita, Cal.(477).

PVTC won the indoor championship in 4 of the previous 12 years, in Landover, Md. in 2013 and 2018, Winston-Salem, N.C. in 2015, and New York City in 2022. This is the fifth title in 12 years, all led and organized by PVTC President Craig Chasse. PVTC has become a national powerhouse club with members in the stands excitedly shouting "Dynasty!" as national MTF Chair Jerry Bookin-Weiner read the results at the Awards Ceremony.

M30 4x200: Curtis Smith, Craig Chasse, James Samiec, Scott Werber

Club members were amazed at Chasse's ability to "mix, match, and maximize" the 40 Club members who participated for maximum points in individual events and relays. High precision and deconflicted timing were required in the 4-day meet. Chasse said, "We give athletes of all abilities the opportunity to be part of a national championship by mixing ages in relays to maximize points and encourage people to train for new events."

MTF leaders said the meet's team titles were the "most highly competed and closest in recent memory," with the result undecided right to the final relays and field events. It was a matter of who had the people that could score, and PVTC won out overall.

The meet had 1176 competitors -- among the highest ever for the indoor championship. Masters track and field presents athletes 25-100+ years old "lifetime fitness and health through training and competition," said PVTC member and national media organizer Bob Weiner (release and info contact at 301-283-0821, cell and text 202-306-1200 weinerpublic@comcast.net).
