DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray TV Iowa State Capitol Bureau) - It has been a week of bill signings for Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds. Among those are a new 3.8% flat tax plan that goes into effect January 1st and tax incentives for companies that create a new project of at least $1 billion in designated areas.

The governor also addressed concerns from law enforcement about how to enforce a law that begins July 1st that would make it a crime for anyone who is in Iowa and has been previously deported from the country or been denied entry into the United States. Law enforcement officials have questioned how they will access federal information to determine a person’s legal status and whether they will have to provide resources to transport an undocumented person to an airport to get deported.

Reynolds said that the Iowa Department of Public Safety can provide guidance for law enforcement.

The governor also found herself in an unusual position as she denied interest in becoming U.S. Secretary of Education if Donald Trump becomes president again, despite her spokesperson earlier telling the Daily Caller that she would be interested in the position.
